Seminar Overview

Every department has a critical role to play in delivering on an organization’s strategy. This certificate seminar provides an overview of strategic planning in an organization and the basic elements of a strategic analysis (SWOT). The Porter 5-forces model for analyzing the competitive environment will be introduced. Topics covered include critical success factors, strategic maps and company positioning, and strategic models (low-cost, differentiation, niche). Participants will discuss how to develop a strategic plan in a supply management role and the linkages between the strategic plan and a budget.

Seminar Goals

Upon completion of this seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Define strategy
  • List and describe the role of strategy relative to the organizational hierarchy and alignment through the hierarchy
  • Discuss two models used to describe business level strategy
  • List and describe the steps within strategy formulation including situational analysis tools such as SWOT and Porter’s 5.
  • Identify the critical success factors of the implementation plan including financial budgeting
  • Describe supply management’s role within the strategic process

Seasoned Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management Manager with 25 + years expertise in Supply Chain and Vendor Management devoted to delivering procurement best practices and passionate in driving innovative strategies to drive efficiencies and bottom line savings.

A member of Supply Chain Canada since 2006, a recognized and respected senior leader with over twenty years of proven strategic sourcing, procurement and contract management expertise. I am currently employed at Municipal Property Assessment Corporation as a Manager, Strategic Sourcing and Contract Management.

My tenure expands to multifaceted selection of industries within Ontario including but not limited to Not for Profit, Pharmaceutical, Healthcare, Retail, Real Estate and Facilities Management plus Public Sector. My most notable accomplishments being focused on delivering organizational spend governance, effective operational development through improved risk mitigation strategies while enhancing company image.

I am passionate about delivering best in class supply chain support service practices by focusing on information sharing, innovation and flexibility while adhering to regulations, laws and policies. In addition I am an ambassador of the Supply Chain profession through strong advocacy to people growth from both a professional and an educational aspect and I continue to demonstrate this by devoting time to mentorship and leadership excellence at work and while off work by teaching procurement, logistics, transportation and operations management modules at Sheridan College.

 

Interactive Workshop Cancellation/Refund Policy:

 A full refund will be issued on cancellations received in writing at least 10 business days prior to the workshop start  date. An administration fee of $150.00 is applicable if notification is received between three and nine days prior to start date. Thereafter no refund will be available. Substitutions and transfer of registrations is permissible when received in writing three business days before the workshop start date.  Credits to be used for future offerings are valid for 12 months from the date of initial payment and will expire if not used in that time frame.  

Interactive Workshop Cancellation/Rescheduling:

 In the event of a workshop being cancelled or rescheduled, prior notification will be given to registrants by phone or e-mail, with the option of a full refund of registration fees or transfer of registration to another Supply Chain Canada offering.

Registrations must be received no later than 3 days prior to the start date to allow time for processing confirmation.

Attendees will  receive a confirmation email with the specific workshop details, such as room number shortly after registering for the event.
